INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

Individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and behavioral and emotional problems face special challenges. Fortunately, the research is clear. Most individuals benefit from individual and family cognitive behavioral therapy.

With the right treatment, most individuals can overcome emotional problems, improve decision making and get along better with others. And with the right coaching, family members can provide positive encouragement to make progress even faster.

Cliff Anderson LCMHC has over 35 years experience providing individualized cognitive behavioral therapy for children, adolescents and adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental health problems.

My customized approach builds on the strengths of each person. I work with the individual and family members on positive behavior management plans. These plans leverage the power of praise and incentives with careful use of mild punishments. The outcome; happier individuals and happier families.
